Mrs. Leesa Mohanty

Leesa Mohanty, a social entrepreneur and cultural revivalist, has been closely engaged with rural communities since 2014. Trained in classical Odissi dance and a choreographer, she authored “Dancing is Fun”. In 2013, she closed Nirguna Centre For Excellence, a thriving Classical Dance Center in Mumbai, founded in 2008, due to personal reasons. Redirecting her efforts, she creatively engaged with handloom weavers and handicraft artisans across India. This led her to found Nirguna (www.nirguna.in) in 2014 and Nirguna Trust in 2018, focusing on promoting rural livelihoods. Inspired by the revival of the century-old lost weave, Dhalapathara, Leesa decided to dedicate her life to holistic development of communities.
